The top messaging application WhatsApp suffered from more than 3 hours of outage on Saturday. After acquisition of the company by Facebook, WhatsApp was down for the first time. Many memes and false news was circulated on the social networks after the down time. WhatsApp now has more than 450 million users worldwide and has 1 million signups daily. Before this it was experiencing some server issues and on Saturday it totally crashed and WhatsApp engineers repaired it in 3 hours. This caused inconvenience to many people as it was weekend and many people prefer social networks more on weekends. Let us know more about this outage and how WhatsApp recovered it.
After buying WhatsApp, Facebook was disappointed with this news. They are trying to purchase the whole company for $19 Billion! It was down for 210 minutes. Users are now frustrated and many people think that WhatsApp is going to shut down its services. But this is not true. WhatsApp won’t stop its service for sure. After acquisition, Facebook and WhatsApp both will expand its services.
This is what WhatsApp tweeted after they found servers are down.
sorry we currently experiencing server issues. we hope to be back up and recovered shortly.

For WhatsApp, it is not new. WhatsApp suffered this many times before. In 2014 already many giants like Gmail also faced servers and internal problems. WhatsApp now has become the integral part of our lives. People use WhatsApp for communicating with each other. In this world calling and SMS is not free. Calling abroad means we have to empty our pockets before calling. WhatsApp provides almost same services for free. So it will affect too many people.
When WhatsApp was down, many people tweeted and posted funny memes and status about WhatsApp application. Some big personalities also posted their views about this major outage. Have a look!

Yes, it is really funny and due to this down time WhatsApp got many negative feedbacks. Many people realized that they have chatting addiction. Only 3 hours of downtime on WhatsApp made millions of people to search for WhatsApp alternative. People were trying out other messengers like Gtalk, Telegram etc.
It is obvious that machines will face some glitches and downtimes. But now, as a big company, people expect error free WhatsApp in their mobile phones. Now, as WhatsApp is a part of Facebook, I think will not show errors in future. Now it can spend million dollar on their servers and other machinery.
