November 14, 2013 By Lilesh Moolya Leave a Comment

Hello Facebookers. When you are in your friend’s home and you are using Facebook and suddenly power goes then what you will do? Ah! Now your friend will be definitely dancing because he can view your profile when power comes back. Yes, it’s really annoying and can have very serious effect when you are on cyber cafe or at work and this happens there. But don’t worry. Facebook has option to secure your account. They have that feature that can be used in such situations. You can log out of your account from other device using another desktop or mobile phone also. It is the best thing and really it helps a lot when we face such situations. Let us see how we can log out from other devices.

Before I explain how you can do that, I will tell you how it works. Have you heard about cookies? No, not that chocolate one. Cookies in terms of computer are different thing. It is actually a log text file which is created when you log in by Facebook servers. These files mainly consist of your data or information like browser name, IP address, locality, etc. along with a session ID. Facebook creates two cookies. One is stored in your system or mobile phone browser and one is saved in Facebook databases. Whenever you click or do anything in your account, the system will match your cookies with Facebook database and if it matches then only you can see other page. This is done on every activity you do. Even on simple action of liking a post! So when you are performing this, actually you are deleting the cookies from Facebook databases. So whenever you delete cookies, that means you are logging out from that device. Simple isn’t it?

Let’s see now how we can log out from other device. Follow these simple procedures.

Steps For Logging Out From Other Device

  • First of all, log in to your account with other safe system.
  • After that, click on “Account settings”.

  • Click on “Security” tab.
  • In the Security tab, click on “Active Sessions”.
  • Now you may see all devices from which you have logged in.
  • Find that device that you want to remove or log out your account.
  • After finding, click on “End Activity”.

You are now done. Do this for all your devices which you don’t want to be logged in. It is simple. It won’t affect to your current sessions and you can again log in from that device anytime you want. You can also do this from you mobile phone. You have to visit Facebook’s mobile site and then just go to settings and security. Mark unwanted device and click “End Activity”.

Now you can do this next time when you are in cyber cafe or friend’s home and PC shuts down due to power cut. Do you find it useful? Comment your views below.
